In-Salon Tips for Hairdressers
1. Deep Conditioning Treatments:
- Offer regular deep conditioning treatments to replenish lost moisture. For example, products enriched with keratin work wonders in restoring the hair's elasticity and shine! Recommend at-home deep conditioning masks your clients can use weekly to maintain hydration. We love this one: amika hydro rush deep conditioning mask.
2. Bond-Building Treatments:
- Incorporate bond-building treatments like Joico Defy Damage KBond20 Power Masque into your bleaching services. These products help to repair and strengthen the hair bonds, reducing breakage and damage.
3. Customised Hair Care Routines:
- Tailor hair care routines based on the client's hair type and condition. Suggest sulphate-free shampoos and conditioners designed for colour-treated hair. We recommend the [wa]shed by Shed Vivid Bloom colour lock UV protection.
- Emphasise the importance of using a leave-in conditioner or serum to provide an extra layer of protection when out in the sun.
Summer Hair Care Tips for Clients
1. Protect from Sun Damage:
- Advise clients to wear hats to shield their hair from direct sunlight. UV rays can weaken and fade bleached hair, which can give a dull appearance.Recommend using hair products with UV filters to provide an additional layer of protection against the sun. We love: Schwarzkopf Bonacure Sun Protect Scalp & Hair Mist.
2. Hydration is Key:
- Stress the importance of keeping hair hydrated. Recommend using a hydrating shampoo and conditioner specifically designed for bleached hair. Remind clients to drink plenty of water throughout the day to keep their hair and body hydrated from the inside out.
3. Pre-Swim Preparation:
Before swimming, suggest clients wet their hair with clean water and apply a leave-in conditioner or hair oil. This helps to create a barrier that reduces the absorption of chlorine or saltwater. Recommend using a swim cap for added protection!
4. Post-Swim Care:
Advise clients to rinse their hair immediately after swimming to remove any chlorine or salt. If left, this can cause severe dryness and breakage.Suggest using a clarifying shampoo once a week to remove build-up, but caution against overuse as this can strip the hair of its essential oils. We love: [wa]shed by Shed clean slate charcoal detoxifying shampoo.
5. Avoid Heat Styling:
Encourage clients to minimise the use of heat styling tools during the summer. As it’s unlikely your clients will go without heat, recommend a heat protectant spray, such as the Force-field heat protectant spray from Shed, to protect hair from heat up to 230°. Recommend your clients to wear natural styles like beachy waves or braids that don't require heat.
