Pantone’s 2025 Colour of the Year

With 2024 coming to a close, Pantone has revealed its 2025 Colour of the Year, Mocha Mousse, and it’s already making its debut in the world of hair colour. This rich, neutral, yet cool-toned brunette is a sophisticated blend of beiges and chocolate browns, that create a refined, harmonious look. For clients looking to embrace a luxurious shade in 2025, Mocha Mousse is the ultimate choice. We’ve teamed up with our Alan Howard Educator, Sara Simspon, to discuss how colourists can create the trending Mocha Mousse with their clients using Quif Professional Let’s dive into the colour of 2025…

What is Mocha Mousse?

Within the world of hair colour, Mocha Mousse is described as a soft, multi-dimensional brunette that combines cool undertones with subtle hints of warmth, giving the hair depth and richness. Sara adds “I think we will see lots of warm browns with soft caramel blondes to complement those chocolate coffee colours we’re seeing a lot of on socials. When creating Mocha Mousse, it’s important to add those subtle hints of light warmth with the, chocolatey browns to create a harmonious blend of colour, for that expensive, luxurious vibe.”

How To Achieve Mocha Mousse Hair with Quif

Our model started with a level 6 base, with previously lightened face-framing highlights. To create the Mocha Mousse look, Sara tells us, “The key is adding dimension. This rich, expensive look requires techniques like balayage and highlights with the goal of creating depth whilst keeping the overall look seamless.” Here’s what we used for the perfect lift:
  • 60g magi:light bond-enforced lightener
  • 120ml of 10 vol/3%
Using a mix of original highlights, Sara weaved, backcombed, and applied the lightener heavily to the ends, working her way up the head in a feathering motion to the midsection, then to the root. This was processed until the hair had visibly lifted. Once achieved, we mixed:
  • 60ml Quint:essential 5:73
  • 60ml Quint:essential Quasi developer 1.5%
This rich, chocolatey colour was applied all over the head and between foils to make the ultimate mocha base. Once developed, it was time to take out the foils and tone the lightened ribbons of hair to add those subtle hints of warmth. We used:
  • 60ml Quint:essential 8:033
  • 60ml Quint:essential Quasi developer 1.5%
Fast forward 20 minutes, and the hair was rinsed, shampooed, and ready for styling. And here are the results!

From a non-dimensional or textural toned brunette to a rich Mocha Mousse that adds subtle elegance, this colour will immediately give your clients that expensive, sophisticated look. Create the sensational colour of the year with Quint:essential by Quif for the ultimate client transformation that your clients will love!
