A Deep Dive into Quif Trend:01 – The Frenchy

Published date 08 June 2023

Back to article listing

You might have noticed a lot more clients arriving at your salon wanting a drastic change or a ‘big chop’. With that, does anything beat the crisp, clean finish of a French bob? We don’t think so!

‘The Frenchy’, featured as part of the Quif Trend:01 collection from The Quif Art Team, celebrates the traditional, sophisticated French bob: a short, heavier chin length bob with the addition of a blunt fringe or bangs.

Quif Artist Claire Severn said “we choose this look as it is the classic timeless shape of a bob with a modern take. The length of a French bob should be above the chin with a blunt heaviness. It can be with or without a fringe, but a fringe with the same blunt heaviness really compliments the look and gives it a fabulous Parisian chic”.

The team added an edge to this look by deciding to use a dark colour to show off the bluntness of the haircut with a touch of warmth that will glint in the light and add a little texture to the look.

“This on-trend look perfectly shows off the tone that can be created in a dark base. A warmer tone, such as the 4:34 we used, catches the light and creates a wonderful reflection adding fabulous shine lines” Claire adds.

But who is the ideal client for this look?

The beauty of the French bob is that it can be worn sleek and smooth to showcase the blunt edge or with tousled and textured finish to create volume and lift. Claire recommends “a client with one length and medium to coarse, straight or slightly wavy hair as the bluntness of the cut makes it swing so beautifully – it’s just so chic!”

Artist top tip: cutting freehand can help ensure your french bob has the heavy blunt look you desire! Wearing the look with a gentle wave adds glorious texture for a more undone look.

Keep an eye out on the blog over the next few weeks for more deep dives into each look in the Quif Trend:01 collection!
