Let’s Go Behind The Scenes…

As part of the highly anticipated re-launch of Quif Blast, we sat down with Georgia Bell, the talented Quif Artist, to discuss her experience working with Quif, to get to know her thoughts behind the creative inspirations and vibrant looks she created for the recent Quif Blast photoshoot. We’ll also be discussing the techniques Georgia used to bring each model's hair to life, showcasing the versatility of Blast.

Q&A with Georgia Bell

  • What sets Quif apart for you as a brand? Why did you choose to work with Quif?

"I’ve worked with a lot of direct dye brands, but what makes Quif stand out for me is the fade. It stays true to tone and lasts longer than other brands I’ve used. For my clients and the education classes I run, that’s huge! I knew Quif was the right brand for me when I was invited to be part of product development, and they really took my opinions on board. I only back brands I genuinely believe in."
  • Can you share some memorable moments from the Quif Blast photoshoot?

"One standout moment was the energy and atmosphere we created during the shoot in Stockport—it was such a vibe! But what really made it special was using my actual clients as models. I wanted the looks to reflect real people, not just models, to show salons how easy it is to use Blast in everyday settings."
  • What inspired the looks you created for the shoot?

"My goal was to highlight how fun and versatile Blast is. The colours really speak for themselves when applied to the right client. For example, Little J has naturally coily hair, and we went for a bright pink that blended beautifully with his natural texture. It’s about choosing colours that suit each person’s unique style. I hope this shows other salons that they don’t need a whole new clientele to use bold colours—just introduce it to clients you already have!"
  • Tell us more about the specific looks you created with each model.

Little J: "We started with a green base and transitioned to pink using the Quif Blast pre-lightener. I love how the curls created natural dimension, making the pink pop in all the right places." (Tickled Pink)

Maisie: "She already had a beautiful ashy base, so we enhanced it with a bold lime green to complement her mullet cut. It was all about showcasing cool tones that suited her edgy look." (Mermaid, Inky Blue, Pretty Green)

Sarah: "Her look was a playful watermelon-inspired blend of pink and green—colours that typically don’t mix well. But with Blast, the transition was seamless!" (Tickled Pink, Pretty Green)

Riley: "For Riley, I wanted to show that even a skinhead look can be fun and creative with pastel shades that aren’t too over-the-top." (Daybreak)

Priscilla: "We worked hard to achieve a perfect blonde base, then added subtle pops of colour to enhance her natural curls. It was all about highlighting texture and movement." (Daybreak, Pretty Green, White Lightening)

  • How did you choose the colour combinations for each model?

"I drew out my ideas beforehand, but the process really starts at the consultation. Suitability is key—knowing what works for the client and what will complement their style. Blast offers so many colours that the possibilities are endless. I wanted to showcase its versatility by using fun, vibrant shades that suit real people."
  • What are some of your favourite techniques when working with Blast?

"I love blending colours and creating multiple ribbons of colour throughout the hair. Colour blocking is also a fun way to make bold statements. My clients get involved too, helping mix the shades and making it a collaborative process. Blast makes this easy because the colours are so flexible and intermixable."
  • What excites you the most about Quif’s re-launch of Blast?

"I’m thrilled to be working with a northern brand that values my input. Quif Blast has given me the creative freedom I’ve always wanted. I’m so excited to see everything come together—it’s a dream come true!"
